Junior competition winner gets behind the mic!

Thu 18 October 2018, 09:07|Tottenham Hotspur

Michael Olubaje, aged 15, was the lucky winner of our latest One Hotspur Moments experience.

Michael, accompanied by his Dad Addy, became our junior match reporter for the day during the game against Cardiff City at Wembley earlier this month, sitting on the commentary gantry and watching Mauricio Pochettino’s post-match conference.

Eric Dier’s early goal gave us a 1-0 win against the Premier League new boys.

My Junior Match Reporter Experience

By Michael Olubaje, 15, One Hotspur member

“Having witnessed the magic of Messi and Barcelona I was obviously disappointed with the result, however it became insignificant as my mind raced towards the Cardiff City game.

“The week before I heard I had won the competition to commentate at the game and I could not wait for it! When I heard I had won this competition I was thrilled with excitement. My experience was unbelievable. Being able to go backstage at Wembley was fantastic. Seeing the Tottenham boys entering the dressing room where I could interact with them and seeing their relaxed attitude towards me was amazing.

“My day had got even better when I found myself in the commentary box on the gantry, sitting alongside the wonderful commentator in the best seats in the house! We enjoyed a spectacular view for the 1-0 win against Cardiff.

“Once the game had finished, we walked down to the Wembley press room to witness the magic of Mauricio Pochettino delivering his thoughts on the game, which was a tremendous feeling. I also got to hear the Cardiff manager Neil Warnock’s perspective on things as I sat in on two live press conferences.

“The whole experience couldn’t have happened without my One Hotspur Junior membership. I really enjoy having a membership with Spurs as it allows me to do amazing things like this. I was once a mascot and also a matchday Flagbearer, but this topped it all as I felt like a celebrity with the camera following me around.

“Thank you, Tottenham Hotspur!”
