The Club has delivered football coaching clinics and nutritional workshops to over 4,200 primary school students in New Zealand as part of ‘New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge’, which is supported by AIA, our Global Principal Partner.
Our Global Football Development coaches, Anton Blackwood and Shaun Harris, took part in a nationwide tour visiting 25 schools and sports clubs as part of their role encouraging young people around the Asia Pacific region to lead healthier lifestyles.
‘New Zealand’s Healthiest Schools Challenge’, which launched in 2016, runs in 500 schools across the country engaging 57,000 children. During the challenge, participants are given fun tasks and simple tips on how to build healthy habits into their daily lives.
As part of the programme, our coaches identify talented players and help to create a pathway for them to progress to a professional level, alongside education, nutrition and leadership workshops.
Anton Blackwood said: “It’s been fantastic working alongside AIA during our tour of New Zealand delivering football coaching and nutritional workshops to children. We hope that the children will take our advice onboard and remain active and continue to develop healthy lifestyles.”
