World Cup - Hugo and France into the quarter-finals

Hugo Lloris will lead France out at the quarter-finals of the World Cup after a thrilling 4-3 win against Argentina in the last 16 on Saturday.

It was a rollercoaster ride of a match to kick-off the knockout phase of the tournament in Kazan.

France took the lead through Antoine Griezmann but Angel Di Maria levelled spectacularly from 30 yards before the break.

Argentina then took the lead when Lionel Messi's shot was diverted home by Gabriel Mercado but France hit back to level through a stunning strike from Benjamin Pavard. They took control from there and two quick goals from Kylian Mbappe saw them into a 4-2 lead.

Sergio Aguero converted from Messi's cross in added time but there was no way back for Argentina.

Hugo and France - runners-up in Euro 2016 - will now play either Uruguay or Portugal in the quarter-final in Nizhny Novgorod on Friday (3pm UK).
