Tour 2018 - Global Football Development impact in California

Sun 29 July 2018, 19:26|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Global Football Development team brought the curtain down on a busy fortnight of activity across California by delivering a 16-team Supporters' Club five-a-side tournament at the Evolve Project Facility on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Club Ambassadors Ledley King and Darren Anderton were on hand to cheer on the participants and hand out the medals at the end with LA Independents ending up victorious.

It has been another busy week for our team of coaches who began on Monday at Great Park Fields working with three affiliate Orange County Surf Soccer Clubs delivering a Player Development Programme to 150 players aged Under-10 to Under-14.

It was then back on the road to San Diego Surf Soccer Club for a College ID programme where players were observed as part of their college scholarship pathway across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday while also helping to deliver a family friendly beach day on Tuesday alongside San Diego Spurs.

Friday saw the guys link up with LA Galaxy Foundation to deliver technical sessions to players from LA Galaxy selected community partners before the lucky chosen 12 youngsters from our San Diego sessions were brought along to the First Team open training session and introduced to the players and Mauricio Pochettino. You can learn more about that here...

Speaking at the end of a busy couple of weeks, Head of Global Football Development Andy Rogers said: “It has been an unbelievable couple of weeks for us in California. Our sessions have reached thousands of young players and coaches across the community. It is always our aim to leave a lasting legacy and we hope the enjoyment and coaching delivered makes a real impact to the young players.

"Our work doesn’t stop here though and we will continue to work with our affiliate clubs like San Diego Surf to develop the game across the globe.”
