Local youngsters help unveil new kit

Fri 20 July 2018, 07:39|Tottenham Hotspur

Local youngsters who have been supported by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation have helped unveil this season’s new kit by modelling items from the 2018/19 collection.

Lamarr, 16, Siobhan, 22, Jordan, 23, and Kimberley, 24, have all taken part in Foundation programmes including ‘Premier League Works’, a 12-week employability programme, ‘Kick Off’, a specially-designed course for young people with learning difficulties, ‘MOPAC’, a project that supports young people who are at risk of offending and ‘Project SEARCH’, a programme that provides on-site practical work training for young adults with special education needs.

Lamarr came to the Foundation via a pre-apprenticeship programme, taking part in employability and personal development workshops. He was then fast-tracked onto the ‘Premier League Works’ programme and learnt key employment and social skills to help him find a job. He now works as a peer outreach worker at the Greater London Authority.

Last season, Siobhan worked at the Foundation’s matchday kiosk at Wembley where she, alongside other 16-24-year-old volunteers from the local area, learnt how to operate the till, take orders from customers and serve refreshments. She currently attends a weekly functional skills workshop and is hoping to gain employment as a Fanbassador for the Club.

Before his involvement with the Foundation, Jordan spent 20 months in prison. Upon release, staff at the Foundation helped him get a job as a cashier at Sainsbury’s in Tottenham so he could support his young family. Jordan now works for the Foundation as a mentor on its ex-offender programme helping other youngsters in similar circumstances find jobs in the local area.

Kimberley has special education needs and, in the past, has found it difficult to find a job. Through the Foundation, she received special job support through the ‘Project SEARCH’ programme and has now been successfully employed by Public Health England.

The inspiration behind the 2018/19 kit is drawn from the much-anticipated move into our new stadium and the characteristics of the vibrant First Team. The design of the home match jersey is intended to subtly reference the architecture of the new stadium, whilst also remembering the Club’s former home by displaying the postcode and coordinates of the centre circle of White Hart Lane.

The new 2018/19 kit will be on display during the Club’s forthcoming tour of the United States and is available to buy now at www.shop.tottenhamhotspur.com.
