Florida Elite scholars visit Hotspur Way

Mon 30 July 2018, 09:13|Tottenham Hotspur

Last week, players from Florida Elite’s Soccer Academy, the Club’s Global Football Development partner, visited the Training Centre.

A total of 17 football scholars from the east coast of America were given a unique training session by our Global Football Development coaches, before playing a friendly match at Hotspur Way against a squad from the Club’s Academy programme.

Tottenham Hotspur and Florida Elite joined forces earlier this year to help drive the development of the game in North America. Through the partnership, a Tottenham Hotspur coach works alongside Florida Elite’s coaching staff all year round to support the growth and development of the partnership. The coach supports technical sessions with selected elite teams, while overseeing player development using renowned coaching methods established within our Academy.

Florida Elite Soccer Academy formed in 2014 after two established clubs in Jacksonville joined forces after being brought together by Sean Bubb, whose sole intention was to create the ultimate youth football environment. In just three years, Florida Elite has grown to be the largest and most successful football club in the state. The club provides development opportunities for young players and teaches them a style of football that emphasises passing and possession of the ball.

Joey Muellers, Florida Elite Soccer Academy player, said: “It’s been a fantastic experience coming to Tottenham Hotspur’s Training Centre to use their state-of-the-art facilities, meet their coaching staff and Academy players. I learned a couple of new skills from the Spurs coaches that I’ll be sure to put into practice when I next play in Florida.”
