Burnley preview with Jack Gaughan, Daily Mail

Fri 14 December 2018, 17:20|Tottenham Hotspur

Northern football reporter for the Daily Mail, Jack Gaughan was at Turf Moor for Burnley's win against Brighton last weekend and with that in mind, we asked for his insight ahead of Saturday's clash against the Clarets at Wembley for our latest 'Preview from the Press Box'.

Burnley's form

Jack: "They have come away from the team that surprised so many last season and have forgotten the basics but last week felt like the Burnley of old might be returning. Their resistance to heavy Brighton pressure towards the end of that victory seemed significant but time will tell whether it is lasting or not. Supporters are becoming restless by results and Sean Dyche quickly needs to put some sort of run together."

Burnley's key men

Jack: "Joe Hart and Ben Mee are the only two who have consistently come away from matches with credit this season. There were quite a few raised eyebrows at the signing of Hart but he has prevented Burnley from some real hidings already. Mee, a commanding central defender, is as steady as they come and has been let down by those in front of him."

The key area

Jack: "Central midfield has been a real issue for Burnley so far. They have failed to control many games in midfield and lack that bite you would normally associate with them. Teams have over-run them far too easily on too many occasions."

Prediction

Jack: "I'll go for 3-0 Tottenham."
