Mauricio Pochettino reiterated how important it is for the team to maintain momentum as we take on Wolves on Saturday.

We face the men from Molineux at Wembley (3pm) in the third of five matches over the festive period having scored 11 goals in the first two against Everton (6-2 at Goodison on Sunday) and Bournemouth (5-0 at Wembley on Boxing Day).

We’re up to game 11 in a spell of 15 matches in all competitions between 24 November-13 January and we’ve won eight of the first 10 including five on the trot in the Premier League.

“We’re in good momentum and it’s so important to keep that momentum,” said Mauricio. “Of course, the atmosphere and the feeling is so good.

“In the same way, we’re thinking about recovering quickly because on Saturday we need to compete in our best way again. You cannot stop. We always try to give our best and then do everything to try to recover all the energy to be ready to compete again.”

It’s so important now to be humble and to think that every game will be a massive challenge

Wolves arrive at Wembley on a good run. They’ve lost just one of their last five in the Premier League – against Liverpool – and beat Chelsea on 5 December.

Mauricio added: “Wolves are a very good team that play very well. We played a few months ago against them (won 3-2). That was tough. They have very good players and the manager is doing a fantastic job.

“We know it will be a difficult game but we have the belief to go out and perform in the best way.

“The team is confident, but we need to take that in the right way. To play with confidence is so important, but not too much. The balance is the best thing and then you need to show the same quality and level, focus and concentration.

“It’s so important now to be humble and to think that every game will be a massive challenge. That is why we need to be in the right way to compete in every single game.”
