Lucas Moura is fast approaching his first Christmas in London – and it’s set to be a busy one!
A January signing from Paris Saint-Germain, the lightning-quick attacker has never before experienced the festive feast of football that’s traditional in the Premier League.
in the space of 31 days throughout December and into New Year’s Day, we face a testing spell of 10 games in all competitions.
Having previously played in France and with São Paulo in his native Brazil, Lucas has been accustomed to having a break in the fixture calendar at this time of year, but is relishing the challenge this time around as we look to keep challenging in all competitions.
“This will be my first Christmas in London. It’s such a beautiful city and I can’t wait to see what it looks like at this time of year,” he said.
“This month will be very busy for us. I’ve never played so many matches over this period. They are all really big games as well, so we cannot afford to lose our focus.
“Christmas is a very special time of the year for me for many reasons. It is a time to say thank you but it’s also a chance to spend time with my family and my friends and enjoy the celebrations.”
With so many matches in such a short space of time, it leaves little time for Lucas to decorate his home for the holiday season – but thanks to our online Spurs Shop, he’s in safe hands!
We asked the 26-year-old to browse through our range of products and pick out some items that would help him get set for the festive period.
Lucas makes his festive selections
“This is a good idea, because I normally like to spend some time putting up the decorations in my house,” he smiled. “Thankfully I have my family to take care of this while I am with the team.
“I think I will have to have some Spurs baubles on the tree this year. I’ve had such a great year with the club. I love playing football here and for me, it was a great opportunity that I am really enjoying. I’m thankful that it has gone well so far this season and I hope that continues, for me and for the whole team.
“I also like the look of the Spurs reindeer ornament. This one makes me smile! I think I will need to get one for the tree at home this year!”
While his close family are here with him in England, Lucas always sends his best wishes to his wider family and friends back home in Brazil.
Of course, the most traditional way for him to do that is with a hand-written card – so our Spurs Christmas cards are ideal!
“It’s important to be able to send my family cards at this time of year,” he said. “They always follow my progress and of course they all keep a close watch on how we are performing here at Spurs. The Premier League and Champions League are so big in Brazil. Having the Spurs badge on the cards this year will be extra-special.”
The festive season also provides an excuse to get dressed up – so we asked Lucas if any of our festive apparel caught his eye…
“I’m a fan of the Club’s Christmas jumper!” he smiled. “For me, I think the Christmas jumper tradition is quite a new thing but I have seen some of the players wearing these on social media.
“Obviously I will be focused on training and being ready to help the team whenever I am needed over Christmas but when I get back home it’s important to rest my mind and body by spending some quality time with my family. Perhaps the Spurs Christmas hat could make an appearance when we all sit down for dinner!
“I like the Christmas tree shirt as well. It’s an honour for me to be included on there! The Christmas tree is an iconic symbol at this time of year and I like the design of this shirt.”
