Pierre-Emile Højbjerg wants to show the care and ambition he and his team-mates have for the Club in this evening’s clash with Aston Villa (7.30pm kick-off).
Speaking on the back of a difficult week for the squad in which we lost out in the north London derby last Sunday, before our European journey was ended on Thursday night by Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia, Pierre is looking at our return to Premier League action at Villa Park as an opportunity to showcase exactly what the team is made of.
“Today is, for all of us, fans, players, very important, and we want to show what we’re about, we want to show how much we care, so today, I want to say it’s an opportunity to show how much we care. We want to do well, not just for each other, but for the Club and for the fans,” the Dane stated.
“We want to be successful, and we can only be that together, everyone working in the same direction.
“This season is a lot about consistency, a lot about creating momentum. The fans are not there physically to create that momentum, to create that, let’s say, atmosphere that would sometimes suck one, two, three or 10 points out of an opponent, we have to do that ourselves, finding our reasons inside, in terms of who we do it for.
“It’s about consistency and momentum and the one who until the last game, the last minute of the season keeps that consistency, keeps that mental focus, I think these teams will be ending where it’s fun and where you look yourself in the mirror at the end of the season and say, ‘yes, it’s been quite successful’.”
