Carlos: “If there is anything I need, I can just call Lucas”

Making the move to a new country and culture can always be difficult but, when you have Lucas Moura around, Carlos Vinicius admits it’s made all the easier.

Arriving from Benfica on loan in October, it was a huge change for the striker as he swapped Portugal for England yet, from day one, Lucas was there to help him with anything he needed.

Immediately inviting his Brazilian compatriot to his house to welcome him to the Club, our number 27 has since been crucial in assisting Carlos in his adjustment to life in London, including helping him to learn English.

It is support and friendship that ‘Vini’ really cherishes and something he can’t thank Lucas enough for.

“It’s a really wonderful friendship that we already have,” our number 45 smiled. “He is someone who received me and welcomed me so well when I arrived. The first couple of days when I was still in the Club hotel he said, ‘come round to my house.’ Without even knowing me personally, he wanted to invite me round and welcome me in that way.”

“In everything that I do at the Club, he is always there to help me. He helps me an awful lot in my work on the pitch and away from the field of play as well. He’s done so much to welcome me and my family here. Often, if there is anything I need, I can just call Lucas and he is always the guy who can sort it out for me. I am just really happy to have found this friendship and to have him as both a team-mate and a friend.”
