Jose Mourinho’s eyes are solely focussed on taking all three points tonight against Everton (8pm kick-off).
Despite the Carabao Cup Final being just on the horizon as we head to Wembley next Sunday to take on Manchester City, Jose will not allow himself or the squad to be distracted. Instead, the immediate motivation for the team is this evening’s clash at Goodison Park, where all energies are being geared towards taking victory.
“I’m just thinking about tonight, not the final,” our Head Coach explained. “It’s match after match and we have to try to get the maximum number of points in the Premier League and at the end of the season, we will see where we end. The cup final is a different story, it’s isolated from the Premier League context and after next week’s game against Southampton, we will see.
“The objective is to win the game, not to defend anything, that’s not the point. We try to play in a way where we are going to be aggressive and intense, and to give our most prolific attacking players situations where they don’t have to think too much about defensive organisation and to give them some freedom.”
