Christian Ziege is making good progress in his recovery from a torn calf muscle and is determined to make a lasting return this time around.
The German wing-back has endured a fragmented period of his career. He suffered an ankle injury against West Ham in April that forced him to miss the remainder of last season and a successful operation enabled him to feature in the World Cup.
He returned in pre-season but suffered another ankle injury against Celtic and missed the opening game of the season at Everton. Christian then played against Aston Villa and Charlton before returning to Germany following the sad loss of his mother.
He came back as a late substitute in our defeat to Fulham at Loftus Road and played in the 3-2 win over West Ham at the Lane. The former Liverpool man then missed the trip to Manchester United with calf problems that were related to his back.
Christian started the following game against another of his former clubs, Middlesbrough, but was forced off the pitch early after sustaining the torn calf muscle.
So it has been a wretched run for the elegant wing-back, who insists he will now restore himself to peak fitness.
"It's going well," he reported at Spurs Lodge. "I'm doing my rehab and hope to be back soon. I don't want to push it, in the last couple of months I've maybe had a few injuries because the body wasn't really fit or whatever.
"When I come back I really want to be 100 per cent fit and help the team - not get another injury. This time I should be really, really 100 per cent."
