Youngsters compete for local bragging rights!

Twenty local youngsters were given the chance to represent the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation against teams from Arsenal and Chelsea in a range of different sports at a recent Premier League 4 Sport competition.

Twenty local youngsters were given the chance to represent the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation against teams from Arsenal and Chelsea in a range of different sports at a recent Premier League 4 Sport competition.

Premier League 4 Sport is a £3.85 million national initiative aimed at helping the Government achieve its ambition to offer young people five hours of sport a week as part of its 2012 legacy plans.

The competition took place at Sobell Leisure Centre in Holloway, North London, and saw teams of local youngsters representing their clubs battle it out in badminton, judo, table tennis and volleyball events.

Our team, selected from different satellite clubs currently running in both Enfield and Barnet, won the judo competition and came second in the badminton and volleyball events.

Liam Hope, Premier League 4 Sport Coordinator at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “This was a great opportunity to showcase the four sports on offer in the Premier League 4 Sport programme and to display the local sporting talent. It allowed the participants of satellite clubs across London to come together in a competitive environment. The National Governing Bodies of each sport also showed great support and played a key role in coordinating and running the event on the day.”

Tottenham Hotspur Foundation continues to strive towards creating opportunities for people in our four local boroughs within a range of multi-sports through Premier League 4 Sport and a range of other Sports Development programmes.

The Foundation would like to thank Sobell Leisure Centre, Arsenal in the Community, Chelsea Foundation and all NGB partners.
