Young on comeback
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Luke Young is desperate to be part of our new-found defensive resolution.
The 21-year-old stepped back into a three-man central defence in Sol Campbell’s absence with little fuss at Everton on Saturday.
Back after a six-week lay-off, Young was tested to the full as the home side put us under constant pressure but passed with flying colours.
The goalless draw was our second successive away match without defeat and without conceding a goal — things have tightened up since the disaster at Ipswich Town on December 30.
Even if Campbell returns from a hamstring problem against Southampton on Saturday Young can expect to line-up at right wing-back as Stephen Carr continues his battle against a groin problem.
The England Under-21 star’s target is simple. "I’d like to get another run in the side, get my fitness up as well because I need to work on that and then try to establish myself again," he said.
As for his heroics on Saturday he added: "We needed to be more resilient. The first thing is to get the clean sheet and if we do that we can always nick a win.
"We did that at Orient and again on Saturday and hopefully we can continue doing it. If we’re strong at the back we’ll have a chance of winning games.
"It was a backs-to-the-wall job mainly for the majority of the game but we defended really well and hung in there for the draw. We got the point and that was all important."
