Yan's Filbert treat

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Yannick Kamanan fired the reserves to victory at Leicester City on Monday night.

The young French striker bagged a goal in each half as Colin Calderwood's men produced arguably their best away performance of the season at Filbert Street.

And an added bonus saw Stephen Clemence complete the full 90 minutes as he continues his comeback trail after seven months out.

It was no less than another young reserve side deserved. They played the football on the night, dictated play for long periods and restricted the home side to a handful of efforts on goal, mostly from set-pieces.

The first half, high in effort and enthusiasm but short of goalmouth action, certainly belonged to Spurs.

Gavin Kelly made his only notable save of note after 10 minutes, parrying away Martin Reeves piledriver, but he was mostly on spectator duty after that as our midfield trio of Clemence, Ciaran Toner and John Jackson dictated play.

Clemence fired inches wide from the edge of the box after a fine move involving George Snee and Kamanan before Kamanan struck in the 16th minute.

Jackson picked out his run in the left channel of the penalty area and Kamanan, still with plenty to do, unleashed a low drive across Simon Royce into the bottom corner.

That lifted the lads and they popped the ball about impressively against a fiesty City outfit who really only threatened from set-pieces.

There was only one more chance though. Toner broke up play in midfield and found Kamanan, he returned the pass but just as Toner pulled the trigger, Matthew Heath managed to get in a block tackle.

The second half started evenly before the Jackson-Kamanan combination reaped rewards again after 54 minutes.

This time Jackson played a ball across the edge of the area in-between the defensive line and Royce. Kamanan was chasing a lost cause really but Jon Ashton hesitated, Royce slipped and Kamanan gleefully side-footed the ball home from about 20 yards.

City's best chance to date arrived just after the hour. Alex Mortimer appeared to scuff his corner slightly but Reeves headed back into the danger area and substitute Tom Wright nodded over from six yards.

Kamanan went looking for a hat-trick after 70 minutes after a wonderful spell of possession but his 30-yard drive was always a yard off target.

City had the ball in the net after 74 minutes after Mortimer fired in a low free-kick from the byline but it was chalked off for a foul.

Kamanan earned a sporting round of applause from a decent-sized home crowd as he was replaced by John Sutton with nine minutes left and but for another couple of crosses that fizzed across the area and Sutton just failing to connect to the impressive Jackson's low cross, that was about that.
