Xtra - Social Spurs - what a start!
21 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
It was a positive start to our Premier League campaign both on and off the field with our supporters tuning in from all over the world to follow our opener at Crystal Palace on social media.
We take the global Spurs family closer to the club at the Training Centre and on matchdays through our various social media channels - and we kicked-off in style at Palace.
Before the match, Mousa Dembele took followers for the players' walk around the pitch at Selhurst Park via an Instagram video while over 2,000 supporters from around the world, including many of our Official Supporters Clubs, got in touch to share where they were watching the match.
Fans contacted us from as far afield as Japan, South Africa and a number of fans from Brazil, no doubt tuning in to see Paulinho make his league debut for the Club.
At kick-off against Palace, #COYS was trending world-wide on Twitter which again goes to show the fantastic growing support the Club has globally. With excitement building ahead of Roberto Soldado's Premier League debut, we posted a picture of the Spaniard exiting the tunnel - it's at the top of this page - which was liked and shared by over 20,000 Spurs fans.
Our minute-by-minute match commentary returned at the weekend bringing you all the action as it happens on Twitter and our all-new Match Centre on tottenhamhotspur.com.
If you're out and about and can't watch the game on TV, @SpursOfficial will bring the action to you.
Many of you watched the match live on television around the world which is why we've launched #THFC_LIVE.
This hashtag allows fans to give their views on the match: what do you think of the new signings; how are you liking our attacking formation, or generally giving your input on the performance. #THFC_LIVE is an opportunity for fans to join the global discussion and no matter where you are in the world, you can chat to other supporters, in real-time, about action on the pitch.
