WTPS: Sol's return
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The papers crank up the return of Sol to the Lane on Saturday and the Mirror uses a quote from David Buchler saying that Spurs now are stronger all round than six months ago.
This has predictably been turned into a 'we're better off without you' story. The Sun says Sol has no fear over his return, a 'friend' is quoted as saying: "All the talk about him returning has been going on for so long now that he has become used to it. Spurs fans might think he will be scared. He won't."
Stephen Carr urges fans not to get too involved with Sol so as to forget to back the boys. "My only worry is that the fans will be so preoccupied with barracking Sol, they'll forget to get behind us," said Stephen.
"We need the crowd to give us all the support they can. That could make all the difference and I hope the fans remember that."
Meanwhile, George has his say in the Mail, stating that Sol can handle the abuse but will not like it, while a letters page publishes reactions to Ian Wooldridge's attack on Spurs fans on Wednesday.
The Standard reports Bob Wilson saying Saturday's clash at the Lane will be a severe test for new keeper Richard Wright. Wilson also said: "This is the best Tottenham team I've seen in a very, very long time and it will take all Arsenal's luck to get a result."
In other news, Ossie Ardiles has been sacked as manager of Saudi club Al Ittihad despite leading them to the top of the league.
