World Cup 2014 - Spurs fans in Brazil

Sean Jones managed to see Argentina in Brazil - complete with his Erik Lamela Spurs shirt!

Sean Jones - Sydney, Australia

This is my first World Cup and I was lucky enough to get tickets for four games - Argentina vs Switzerland in Sao Paulo, Argentina against Belgium, the semi-final in Belo Horizonte and the third place playoff.

The Argentina vs Switzerland game was just fantastic. The atmosphere was incredible, we were part of the first 100 or so people let in the gates and the Argentinian spirit was electric, singing along and having fun. By the time the game came around, about half the crowd (the vast majority being Brazilian) were cheering for the Swiss!

I wore my Lamela away shirt from last year, perfect colours and a good Argentinian lad who I'm sure will shine for us this season!

Rob Ahlers - Amsterdam Spurs

A fairly short blog this time round as we've been less active on the footy front the last few days. We don't have any more tickets for games so we have been doing a bit more sightseeing.

We did go to the Fan Fest on the Copacabana beach for the Holland v Costa Rica game. As with just about all the Fan Fests (or Fan Zones as they were called in other World Cup tournaments) the atmosphere inside these places are always tremendous. Everyone is there for the love of the game, irrespective of their nationality. They are usually very knowledgable on the game and generous in their comments on other countries. This one is a bit special though, with your feet in the soft and warm sand, and both Sugar Loaf mountain and the concrete Christ on Corcovado Mountain in sight.

Every now and then a camera crew will come along for some photos or a quick interview. I had some questions from a Spanish speaking crew (so could have been from a number of countries) on the unusual Tim Krul substitution for the Dutch. They asked if this was a wise substitution but all I could tell them that he played a blinder for Newcastle against us at The Lane last season! The crew seemed grateful for a response at a time when all Dutch and Costa Rica fans were too busy biting their nails.

We are hoping that somehow we will be able to master some tickets for the semi-final in São Paulo or, dare we even dream it, for our country in the final in the Maracana in 13 July.

Martin Flynn - One Hotspur Member

Martin travelled to Brazil with fellow One Hotspur Member Aaron Blackwell and Sean Breach and attended three matches - Spain vs Chile at the Maracana, Uruguay vs England in Sao Paulo and Argentina vs Iran in Belo Horizonte.

Johannesburg-based Kapil watched Hugo Lloris and France bow out against Germany in the quarter-final at the Maracana and has taken in the sights of Rio, including watching Brazil beat Colombia on Copacabana Beach!
