WOODY HAPPY

Jonathan Woodgate was pleased to play his part in keeping clean sheet and gaining a hard-earned point at Everton on Wednesday night.

Making his debut just a couple of days after joining us from Middlesbrough, Jonathan was outstanding alongside central defensive partner Tom Huddlestone in the goalless draw at Goodison Park.

Chances were at a premium against the team occupying fourth place in the Premier League with the best chances on the night falling to Andy Johnson, thwarted twice by Radek Cerny.

"You know what you are going to get at Goodison Park and it was tough," reflected Jonathan afterwards.

"In the first half we were under the cosh, in the second half we came out and played a bit and in the end, it was a fair result.

"I came through it okay and thought I did well in the game," added Jonathan, who suggested few problems on the settling in process since arriving on Monday. "It's gone well. Keano’s taken me under his wing a bit but I know most of the lads anyway and it was good to be involved straight away."
