Winning mentality needed - Eric
07 January 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Eric Dier has highlighted the importance of belief in the second half of the season.
After 20 games of the Premier League campaign we’re perched in fourth place, three points in front of Manchester United in fifth and six points off the top.
Our newest England international, Eric has been a mainstay of the side in a defensive midfield role all season and has only missed one game in the league due to suspension.
However, with 18 more domestic outings still to come, not to mention this weekend’s FA Cup third round clash with Leicester City and a two-legged Europa League re-match with Fiorentina next month, Eric knows there’s still a long way to go and hopes we can continue to produce good performances on the pitch right through until the end of the campaign.
“We’re just quietly going about our business – we’re a very young squad but we’re not getting carried away,” he said.
“As a team and as individuals we can still improve a lot, but we’re an ambitious group and in football you never know what’s going to happen.
“When it comes down to it, we’ve got to beat every team – we have to go into every game, home or away, looking to win.
“In the dressing room at the moment we have that mentality so things are looking up. We just need to keep this mentality where we think we can go to any ground and win. As well as that, we’ll look to keep working hard as we’ve been doing to try to get as high up the table as possible.”
