Win most important for Harry

Harry Kane praised the character of the team after Sunday’s 2-1 win at Swansea City.

The young striker headed us into an early lead at the Liberty Stadium, a goal cancelled out a few minutes into the second half when Wilfried Bony found the net.

We held on amid heavy pressure from the hosts before Christian Eriksen struck an 89th-minute winner.

Naturally delighted with the outcome, Harry was impressed with the spirit we showed to ensure we emerged victorious.

“The most important thing is the win and the three points,” he said.

“Swansea came out flying in the second half and scored almost straight away so the momentum was with them.

“It was tough – they created some good chances but we defended well and hung in there, played for the entire 90 minutes and managed to score just before the end, which was a great feeling.

“We’ve got great character in the team and we’ve shown it away from home. We’re digging deep when we have to and we’re getting results that we want. We’re delighted with the three points.”

Harry’s header marked his 12th goal in all competitions this season – the 21-year-old rising highest in the box to power home from Christian’s corner.

Reflecting on that effort, as well as the circumstances in which we secured a late winner on the road – not for the first time this season – he said: “Christian put a great ball into the area, I was able to get on the end of it and time my jump well. I was very happy to see it go in the back of the net.

“Every time I play I want to get on the scoresheet and do my best for the team, so I was delighted to be able to do that on Sunday.

“For the winner, Ben Davies put a great ball in to Christian, he turned, gave the keeper the eyes and reversed it back through the defender’s legs. We were all absolutely buzzing to see it hit the back of the net.

“Our fans have had some good away trips so far this season with the amount of last-minute winners we’ve had. Hopefully we can make it a bit easier for them in the next one and maybe get a few goals ahead before the end!”
