Win all that matters - Harry on Boro

04 February 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

‘Win and onto the next one’ was the mantra from Harry Kane after our 1-0 win against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Victory was key as we kicked-off at 5.30pm having seen Arsenal and Liverpool drop points earlier in the day.

We did just that thanks to Harry’s penalty on 58 minutes after Heung-Min Son had been upended.

It might have been more as we dominated from start to finish and created plenty of chances but one goal was enough.

Below: Harry speaks to Spurs TV after the game

“On another day we would have scored more but that doesn’t matter, we won the game 1-0, we got the three points and we move on to the next one,” he said.

“You can see how difficult it is in the Premier League. Liverpool have been dropping points, Arsenal as well against teams in the bottom half and we did the same at Sunderland, so we know how tough it is and it doesn’t matter how we win or how many we win by, we got the three points and that moves us up the table.”

Harry didn’t need reminding that his last penalty ended up in Row Z after the turf gave way under his standing foot at Southampton. “That one went miles up into the stands and I’ve been waiting for one to put that right,” he said.

“It was great play from Sonny and I was delighted to put it away.”

There was further praise from Harry for Sonny - remember, the South Korean helped us clinch all three points in dramatic style against West Ham earlier in the season when he was brought down in almost identical circumstances and Harry slotted home from the spot.

“Sonny has such great feet, right, left, he can go either way, he’d gone left but on that occasion he chopped back onto his right foot, the defender stuck his leg out and he won the penalty for us,” added Harry. “It was important, it won us the game and we’ll take that.”
