Willem corners the goal market

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Goal-hungry Willem Korsten is hoping to feast his way back into first team plans at the Lane.

The flying Dutchman made it eight goals in his last four reserve games when he bagged a hat-trick in our 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Ever-understated, the striker admitted: "It’s been quite a good few weeks for me. I’ve been training hard and playing quite well in the reserves. I’m happy to get a result here. Hopefully I can continue in that way.

"I’m always hungry to score goals and the last few months, since I’ve played in my position, I’ve felt good, felt strong and I hope I’ve showed that."

Korsten earned a first team call recently in Sergei Rebrov’s absence but after playing against both Birmingham City and Chelsea, found himself left out of the team and even off the substitutes bench against Sunderland.

He has responded by doing what he does best at the moment — scoring goals in the FA Premier Reserve League. Yet Korsten insisted: "It’s still different playing in the reserves and the first team. It’s a different thing.

"This is the way to show I’m ready for it and hopefully I’ll get my chance and be able to prove myself."

Reserve boss Chris Hughton said: "We all know Willem’s quality as he showed in the recent Leicester game. If he has space and time and opportunities to score he has a quality on the ball which we’ve now seen again against Forest."
