WHY DO YOU SUPPORT SPURS?
My Dad is from north London and a lifelong Arsenal supporter. He moved to south London after the war. I was born in 1949 and lived in the Elephant and Castle area. When my Dad and brother went to Highbury on a Saturday I used to go to Millwall and bunk in for the last ten minutes of the game. Sometimes they even opened the gates at half time!
One Saturday my Dad decided it was time for me to see a ‘real’ team play. 1961 Arsenal vs Spurs with about 63,000 people crammed into the ground. What a day and what an atmosphere. I had just witnessed the double winning team.
How could anyone supports another team after seeing Spurs play that day.
HAVE YOU BEEN TO WHITE HART LANE…
IF SO WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES?
To his credit my Dad would take me to WHL when ‘his’ Arsenal were away. From 1964/65 to 1969/70 I went to every Spurs game home and away, and from 1970/71 to 1980 I went to mostly home games only.
Favourite memories of WHL are too numerous to remember. I loved it every time I went.
HOW DO YOU KEEP IN TOUCH WITH SPURS NEWS?
Mostly through the Spurs site and in particular the chat site, of which I am an active poster. Jim Duggan’s website is also an excellent source of information. I find getting news from the real fans is much better than scanning the papers for gossip.
I have also been in touch with Cameron Tilbury, who is starting up the ‘official Spurs supporters club of Canada’. So any Canadian residents interested in joining get in touch with us.
This one is easy, Jimmy Greaves. The man could score goals, goals win games, everyone wants to see goals and Jimmy was the best bar none.
Steve Perryman would be up there too, but I loved goals.
WHO WOULD YOU SIGN?
It will be difficult to attract top class players, as Europe is the driving force right now. Glenn will have to be shrewd in the transfer market. We need an established striker (written before the return of Teddy), obviously a couple of decent midfielders and perhaps a couple more physio’s to try and get the existing players back on the field a little sooner!
VIEWS ON GLENN HODDLE
Hoddle is Spurs, he supported them as a kid, played for them and now has the chance to bring us back into the European limelight. He will love the job and he will succeed.
I love it, very informative and, as previously mentioned, the chat forum is excellent. I am in touch with Spurs fans from all over the world, and a nicer bunch of people you couldn’t wish to meet
