West Ham U18s 3-3 Spurs - Kieran's verdict

Kieran McKenna had mixed emotions after our Under-18s battled out a 3-3 draw at West Ham United on Saturday.

Goals from Joe Pritchard, Luke Amos and Josh Onomah saw the lads recover from going 2-0 down in the first half to lead 3-2, only for Hammers striker Jordan Brown to quickly hit back and secure a point for the hosts.

Brown had earlier fired West Ham in front before a free header from Emmanuel Onariase made it 2-0.

The result means we’ve taken five points from our opening three Barclays Under-18 Premier League outings – although coach Kieran believes it could have been more after our spirited fightback against our London rivals.

“We started well before their goals went in and even after they scored we continued to play positively,” said Kieran.

“I was happy with the response at 2-0 down but disappointed with the goals we conceded. They were poor goals to let in which cost us the game, really.

“We had plenty of chances, probably five or six in the second half, and it’s disappointing that we weren’t able to take one of them to win the game.

“It’s always a good game when we come here, though. It’s always high tempo and very competitive and it was a good challenge again this time. It was the highest tempo game we’ve had so far and there were lots of positives to build on.”
