West Brom v Spurs - Mauricio's preview

05 December 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino says we need to ‘be careful’ at The Hawthorns this afternoon (3pm).

We travel to the Black Country on the back of a club record 13 matches unbeaten in the Premier League to face a Baggies side that beat Arsenal 2-1 last time out at home and picked up a draw at West Ham last weekend.

“We know this is a very good team and Tony Pulis is a great manager,” said Mauricio. “I like Tony a lot, he’s a good man, a great manager and we have a very good relationship.

“We need to be careful. This is a team that is very solid and strong with very good players. We expect a very tough game.

“We’re 13 games unbeaten and we’re in a good position.  Our ambition as a team is to stay as high as possible, but we need to keep our feet on the ground, to work hard and take it step by step.”

Mauricio said the team is ready for Saturday after a rare clear week to train following the quick turn around between our Europa League match in Azerbaijan and Chelsea last weekend.

“The effort (last week) was unbelievable but you need to feel fresh in every game to be focused,” he added. “We are ready for Saturday and that’s most important. We need to win and we want to win to stay high in the table.”
