West Brom 0-3 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

Sat 31 January 2015, 18:18|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino said our fast start was key to victory at West Brom on Saturday.

Christian Eriksen’s latest piece of free-kick wizardry and Harry Kane’s piledriver saw us storm into a 2-0 lead inside 15 minutes at The Hawthorns.

Hugo Lloris made key saves when he was called upon and when Harry slotted home from the penalty spot after Joleon Lescott handled Kyle Walker’s cross in the 65th minute, the points were destined for North London.

“I’m very pleased and very proud of our players,” said Mauricio. “We showed character and strong mentality and this is the way we want to play.

“I’m also proud of our supporters, they were great again, amazing in their support and we thank them for that. I think the 3-0 scoreline showed that we are in a very good way.

“From the beginning we played at a high tempo and that was the key, to start the game quickly.

“That was the mentality because it’s always difficult after reaching a cup final to play away against a tough team like West Brom.

“We showed character, that’s important and we need to keep this feeling for the next few weeks.”
