We're together, hungry and determined - Dele

15 January 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Dele Alli says it’s key there is no hangover from the Leicester defeat as we continue our hectic schedule in January and February.

We’ve nine games in all competitions between tomorrow’s (Saturday, January 16) Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Lane (12.45pm) and the first leg of our Europa League R32 tie at Fiorentina on Thursday, February 18. That could rise to 10 if we’re successful against Leicester in our FA Cup replay next week with a trip to Colchester awaiting the winners.

With that in mind, Dele is looking to move on quickly from a defeat that hit the players hard on Wednesday night.

“Sunderland is a massive game for us after Leicester and it’s important we don’t let that result affect us too much,” said the in-form midfielder who put pen to paper on a new deal this week.

“We can’t be too down or dwell on it too much, we just have to put it right on Saturday.

“We had a defeat at home against Newcastle (December 13) and reacted really well (three wins and draw in the next four games) and we have to look to do that again.

“We have to keep playing the way we have been. It’s a big game and we want to get the three points.”

Dele said the players had shrugged off the pain of Wednesday’s loss by the end of training on Thursday morning.

“Everyone was really upset and down after the game but we’ve picked ourselves up and we need to be positive now,” added Dele, who has three goals in his last seven games in the Premier League and made his first league start against Sunderland in September.

“For us to dominate how we did and then concede in the 83rd minute was a tough one to take.

“We’re together, we’re hungry and we’ll work hard for each other to try to get the three points against Sunderland.”
