'We're happy with clean sheet' - Ben

Ben Davies was in philosophical mood after Sunday’s stalemate with Manchester United, claiming our late pressure could have seen us emerge with three points instead of one.

We went in level at half-time thanks to a goal-line clearance from Vlad Chiriches and more outstanding goalkeeping from Hugo Lloris, the French international skipper denying Robin van Persie and Ashley Young with different types of stops as United pressed forward.

We then enjoyed more of the possession in the second period without really testing Hugo’s opposite number David De Gea on too many occasions, with left-back Ben delighted to play his part in shutting out Louis Van Gaal’s in-form side.

“From a defensive point of view it’s a clean sheet and one that we’re happy with as a back four,” he said.

“Sometimes you have to weather the storm at the start of the game when you come up against good teams like United but I think we did that and, come the end of the game, we looked the stronger team.

“Both sides had chances and on another day we could have won the game and picked up all three points. But that’s the way football goes, we’ll take the point and move on to the Chelsea game.”
