Nabil Bentaleb highlighted the three points as being of over-riding importance after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Goals from Christian Eriksen and substitute Jermain Defoe sealed our second consecutive home win and continued our resurgent run of form in the Premier League.
We had a let-off in the first half as Jason Puncheon missed a penalty, while Palace enjoyed some good spells of possession – commanding a strong response from our lads after the restart.
Nabil, who marked his full home debut at the weekend, stressed that it’s points on the board that will go down in the record books, rather than the nature of certain aspects of the victory.
“The most important thing is that we got the three points,” said the 19-year-old. “They came out at us and they were confident, but luckily we dealt with it right, we didn’t concede and we came out stronger in the second half.
“We gave them a really hard time in the second half, we worked as a team and all together we showed great desire.”
In spite of his elation at the result, Nabil is sensible enough to know that plenty more hard work is going to be required if we’re to continue our encouraging domestic run.
“Game after game we’re getting better,” he added. “We’re going the right way so we just have to keep working hard, keep focussed and everything will go right for us.”
