'We're confident' - Nacer

Nacer Chadli says the team is confident of making a positive start to 2015 after taking four points from the last two matches.

Our hard-fought goalless draw at home to Manchester United on Sunday came less than 48 hours after Boxing Day’s 2-1 win at Leicester City – taking our current run to five games unbeaten in all competitions.

Belgian international midfielder Nacer admitted the players found it tough against United at times – but believes our current momentum will serve us well heading into our home game against Chelsea on New Year’s Day.

“Manchester United was a difficult game,” he said. “We showed patience and we had some chances but we have to be realistic also – United had the bigger chances in the first half and they played well.

“In the end we did our best and we got one point, but I think we put on a good performance.

“I think we have a lot of confidence at this moment, we had a good draw on Sunday and we have been winning games as well.”

Looking ahead to our clash with the league leaders, who have lost only once so far this Premier League season, Nacer sees no reason why we cannot continue our unbeaten run.

“No games are easy but Newcastle beat Chelsea so why can’t we beat them?” he added. “We have to play our game and we’ll see how we go.”
