'We're all disappointed' - Eric on Anderlecht loss
23 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Eric Dier said Anderlecht’s equaliser was the catalyst for them to go on and take all three points from Thursday night’s Europa League Group J encounter.
After a fine start in which we took the lead through Christian Eriksen, the home side got back on level terms when Guillaume Gillet struck following a corner.
The Belgian outfit then went on to seal a 2-1 win through Stefano Okaka in the second half, leaving us to reflect on what might have been after a handful of spurned chances.
Eric, back in the team after serving a one-game ban in the Premier League last week, said it was a frustrating night all round.
“I’m disappointed – we all are because we could have and we should have done better,” he admitted.
“We started so well. In the first 20 minutes we were very good and we could have even killed the game off by then, but we’ve got to take our chances when we get them and concentrate more at the other end.
“We conceded a sloppy first goal and that gave them the confidence to get back into the game. Before they scored we were dominating, but then to concede a goal from a set piece is very disappointing.
“I think that was the turning point because it gave them the confidence to kick on.”
