'We'll have to be at our best' - Ryan

Fri 03 October 2014, 15:23|Tottenham Hotspur

Ryan Mason acknowledged the success Southampton have had in developing young players in recent years before targeting three points from Sunday’s clash with the Saints.

Ronald Koeman brings his side to White Hart Lane on the crest of a wave, having won their last six matches in all competitions.

Midfielder Ryan, who made his Premier League debut last week at Arsenal having himself come up through the ranks here at Spurs, has been impressed with the production line of talent coming out of the Hampshire side.

But he admitted he’s determined to see his Southampton counterparts leave White Hart Lane empty-handed this weekend as we resume top flight action looking for a return to winning ways after back-to-back 1-1 draws on the domestic and continental stages.

“Over the years Southampton have been packed full of good young players, some of whom our gaffer helped bring through last season,” he said.

“Some of them have gone on to shine now at other clubs and a lot are still involved at Southampton.

“I’ve played against them in reserve team football in the last couple of years, so I know exactly what they can bring to the table.

“They’ve made an impressive start to the season and we know we’ll have to be at our best.”

Read more from Ryan in Sunday’s official matchday programme – on sale from various points around the stadium and from the Spurs Megastore, priced at £3.50 for 100 pages.
