'We'll benefit from hard work' - Mousa on pre-season

Pre-season has been a gruelling period so far, but birthday boy Mousa Dembele is convinced it’ll all be worth it in the long-run.
The players have been put through a series of strenuous exercises since reporting back to Hotspur Way after the summer break earlier this month, with Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino holding regular double training sessions in a bid to optimise the squad’s fitness levels as we build up to the new season.
Mousa was one of a number of our international players to return to the Training Centre on Monday and, although the Belgian midfielder admits it’s been an intense few days, he expects all the players to reap the benefits of their hard graft when we run out at Manchester United on the opening day of the Premier League campaign on August 8.
“It’s been a tough period of pre-season training so far, very difficult at times, but I’m sure everyone will do well,” said Mousa, who turns 28 today (Thursday, July 16).
“I feel very tired every day, but it’s good because we’re building a good base for the season.
“We have some big pre-season games coming up and we will see when we start with the first game of the season that everyone is fit.
“At the moment everybody is very positive about everything, so that’s good for us.”
