We want to go far in the FA Cup - Kevin
21 January 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Kevin Wimmer was delighted to negotiate the first step on the long road to Wembley at the King Power Stadium.
The first Austrian to play for Spurs would love to also be the first Austrian to play for Spurs in an FA Cup Final – and he certainly played his part as we cleared a tough first hurdle against Leicester City.
Kevin was outstanding in an all-new central defensive pairing with Eric Dier - who stepped back from a holding midfield role - as we kept a clean sheet at the KP and goals from Heung-Min Son and Nacer Chadli set up a fourth round trip to Colchester.
“We wanted to win this game and go through to the next round,” said Kevin after his fifth appearance for us since his summer switch from FC Koln.
“The FA Cup is a great competition and we’re all happy and satisfied we won this game. Now we’re focused on Palace and then it will be Colchester, a tough FA Cup game but we’re looking forward to it. Hopefully we’ll go far in the FA Cup this season.”
Mauricio Pochettino made eight changes for the third round replay and his praise for the squad was echoed by Kevin.
“We’re a big squad and everyone wants to show the gaffer that we’re ready for the chance to play and we're all enjoying playing for such a big club,” he added.
“For me as well, it’s always a dream to play for this club and I’ve had a lot of fun, again tonight, and it’s always more fun when you win!”
