'We showed character to come back' - Danny
15 January 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
After opening his account for the season against Chelsea, Danny Rose made it two goals in as many home games in Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay with Burnley.
Having slid in at the back post to notch our second goal against the Blues back on New Year’s Day, the 24-year-old repeated the trick against the Clarets – getting on the end of Roberto Soldado’s cross to make it 4-2 after goals from Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chiriches saw us recover from an early 2-0 deficit to progress into the Fourth Round.
Understandably, Danny was delighted to add to his tally as we continued our battle on four fronts.
“It’s great to score again and it was the same end as my goal against Chelsea as well!” he said.
“It was great work from Robbie Soldado with the assist and I was lucky to get on the end of it to round off a positive comeback from the team.”
Recognised as a left-back, Danny lined up in a more advanced position on the left of midfield against the Clarets, with Ben Davies assuming full-back duties.
It was a switch that paid dividends, with the former Leeds man happy to play his part in a spirited comeback from the team after we fell behind to goals from Marvin Sordell and Ross Wallace.
“The Head Coach has rotated the team, we’ve bounced back to winning ways and we’re delighted that we’re in the next round,” he added.
“It’s a shame we gave them a two-goal head start but we showed great character to come back.”
