We should have won - Joe

Joe Jordan was in little doubt that we should have come away from Bolton with a win in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Joe Jordan was in little doubt that we should have come away from Bolton with a win in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Instead, we'll do it all again in a replay at the Lane - date yet to be decided - after Jermain Defoe levelled Kevin Davies' first half opener.

First team coach Joe praised the way the home side started this fifth round encounter and they deserved the lead via Davies in the 34th minute.

But we clicked into gear in the second half, hit the woodwork twice, JD rifled home for 1-1 after 61 minutes and then saw Tom Huddlestone's penalty saved by Jussi Jaaskelainen.

"We lived dangerously in the first 45 minutes," reflected Joe. "We certainly didn't play well and in the first 25, 30 minutes Bolton's style of play caused us problems. It could have resulted in a second goal and we couldn't have had any complaints.

"The game continued from there though, we got a bit of continuity into our play but it wasn't until the second half that we dominated the game.

"The first half performance wasn't good enough but we came back from the position we were in to dominate the game and should really have finished it off.

"We should have gone away with the victory, no question of that."
