'We need to show we're better than we played on Saturday' - Eriksen on Dortmund
21 November 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Christian Eriksen welcomes with open arms the chance to move on quickly from our derby disappointments in the Champions League.
And it’s not just another huge Champions League match that the Danish star is looking forward to as we face Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park this evening - it’s also the chance to finish first in Group H.
One more win will secure top spot - or matching Real Madrid’s result against APOEL tonight - because if we finish level on points with Real Madrid, the matches between the teams will decide who finishes top.
So it’s very much all to play for as we face a quick return to action after the 2-0 loss at the Emirates. “That was a disappointing day so we need to show we’re better than we played on Saturday and this is our chance,” said Christian.
“The games after (a disappointment) are the place where you have to show you are better and come back and that’s what we have to do.
“It’s going to be a very important game. Of course, we know we have qualified but we want a good result here.”
Asked what it would mean to finish top of a group including Real Madrid and Dortmund, Christian said: “It would mean a lot for confidence and we’ve had some impressive games so far in the group stage. We’re in a position to put ourselves in an even better position going forward so we’ll try to get the three points.”
