We must win this game - Andre

Andre Villas-Boas has stressed the importance of securing our passage to the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday night against Panathinaikos.

Our Head Coach won the tournament with Porto in 2011 and wants to see more European nights at the Lane at the start of next year.

"We absolutely have to win this game. We have embraced this competition in a different way this season, we entered a difficult group and we have a difficult situation now in terms of needing a point because Panathinaikos have come from the brink a little, and they now have the opportunity to go through by winning against us," Andre told

"We have a difficult task on our hands in a competition where we’ve done well and we want to be in it in February. We’ll approach it with a winning mentality, have a go, look to start well and look to take the game through with a great win."

Andre believes our supporters can play a big role in what could be a tense evening at White Hart Lane and hopes the team can overcome the 20 time winners of the Greek Championship.

"The fans are very important. We’ve seen a change in attendances (in the Europa League) from last season, that’s excellent to see, we’ve had some great fixtures, important games.

"Panathinaikos also have a history in the competition, a great Greek club used to winning trophies and winning leagues and we need a good European night to go through."
