Harry Kane says the players are ‘pumped up’ for tonight’s (Wednesday, September 23) derby against Arsenal in the Capital One Cup.
We tackle the Gunners for the first time this season in the third round of the competition with a 7.45pm kick-off at the Lane.
Harry stole the show the last time we met in February when his two goals - including a late winner - secured a 2-1 victory in the Premier League.
Now the 100-plus year rivalry starts all over again this evening.
“It’s a special day for everyone at the club, players, staff and fans and we’re all excited,” said the England striker, who went on to score 31 goals in competitions last term.
“Everyone will be pumped up for it, everyone knows what’s at stake and how much this game means to club and the fans. Everyone will be on their game. The fans will get behind us and it will be an incredible atmosphere.
“The fact that it’s a cup game makes it all the more exciting as well.”
Harry’s headed winner has been replayed time and again in the build-up to tonight’s encounter and he admits it’s been a bit surreal!
“A couple of seasons ago I was watching players scoring important games for their clubs and that’s what you aim for,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to see that goal go in and hopefully it’s just the start.”
One thing for sure is that the team is in fine form – unbeaten in six games in all competitions having won three matches in a week with three clean sheets on the trot in the Premier League.
Harry added: “There were a couple of draws where perhaps we should have won but we’re unbeaten in six now, won our last three and we’re in a good place.
“Everyone is fit and ready and we’re going into this game with a lot of confidence. We’ll bring a lot of energy to this game.”
