'We feel very confident' - Jan

Having successfully completed one half of a festive double-header against the Premier League new boys, Jan Vertonghen turned his attentions to Boxing Day’s trip to Leicester and declared: “We have to keep the run going.”

The Belgian centre-half once again teamed up with Federico Fazio to good effect at the back as we saw off Burnley 2-1 at White Hart Lane on Saturday, following on from our victory by the same scoreline at Swansea and a 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle in the Capital One Cup.

Keen to maintain that winning momentum when we face another recently-promoted side in the Foxes amid this week’s festivities, Jan says we must restrict the hosts in similar fashion to how we did against Burnley.

“We feel very confident so if everyone continues like this then we can win at Leicester,” he said.

“Burnley played well on Saturday but we defended well and didn’t give them too many chances.

“They scored an amazing goal in the first half but for the rest of the game we didn’t give them too much in terms of clear opportunities.

“We need to continue winning at Leicester – we have to keep the run going.”
