'We can learn from past meetings' - Christian

Christian Eriksen says we can use some of the things we’ve learned in our three previous meetings with Burnley to our advantage when we face the Clarets for a fourth time this season on Sunday.

Having earned a 2-1 home victory over Sean Dyche’s men in the Premier League in December, we subsequently met them twice at the third round stage of the FA Cup – drawing 1-1 at Turf Moor in the original tie before winning the replay 4-2.

Therefore unbeaten by the Lancashire side this term, our Danish international midfielder is determined to keep our opponents at bay once again as they seek points to aid their battle to avoid relegation from the top flight.

“We know how they play as we’ve already played them three times this season but every game is different,” he said.

“You start the same way but maybe the game will turn in a different direction.

“It does give us a bit of help to have met them before, though, as we know some aspects of how they’ll play and how to play against them. Everything we can get from previous meetings will help us.”

We go into the contest off the back of a 4-3 home win over another side battling at the bottom end of the table in Leicester City, while Burnley have the memory of a famous 1-0 win at home to Manchester City last month to spur them on.

They’ve since lost 2-0 to Southampton, but Christian is still wary of their threats.

“Burnley will have a lot of confidence after beating Man City and they should have after beating such a strong team,” he added.

“Hopefully we’ll have a good day, though. We beat Leicester in our last match so we’ll go into the game with confidence, but we know we can play better than how we did against Leicester so hopefully we’ll pull off another positive result and pick up another win.”
