WBA U18s 3-2 Spurs - Kieran's verdict

Kieran McKenna had mixed emotions after a “tough game” for our Under-18s at West Bromwich Albion.

We coped well with the windy conditions at the Baggies’ training ground on Wednesday afternoon, taking the lead in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League clash when Chris Paul’s presence forced Andre Gray to divert Shayon Harrison’s free-kick into his own net.

The hosts levelled before the break through Tahvon Campbell, before George Cater put the Baggies ahead on 56 minutes. Ryan Loft restored parity nine minutes from time, but Campbell notched again two minutes later to complete a 3-2 win for his side.

Reflecting on the contest, Under-18s Coach Kieran said: “We had a tough game, played in difficult windy conditions, in what was our third match in six days.

“We battled well, though, and it was nice to take the lead. We came in at half-time at 1-1 but from there it was disappointing that we weren’t able to kick on in the second half and regain the lead to get a better result.

“There were some positives to take from the game but ultimately it was a disappointing result.”
