WBA 3-3 Spurs - Tim's verdict
12 April 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Tim Sherwood was disappointed not to complete the comeback from 3-0 down against West Brom on Saturday.
We conceded after 30 seconds, four minutes and after missing a penalty, found ourselves three goals behind with only 31 minutes on the clock at The Hawthorns.
Crucially, we pulled a goal back on 34 minutes when Kyle Naughton’s cross deflected off Jonas Olsson and looped over Ben Foster into the far corner.
The second half was one-way traffic and Harry Kane reduced the deficit further on 70 minutes with a firm header from Aaron Lennon’s cross.
As we ticked into the fourth of six added minutes, Aaron’s cross from the right fell to Christian Eriksen who controlled, shifted onto his right foot and planted the ball into the top corner.
“It was thoroughly deserved, in my opinion,” said Tim.
We made a very poor start, gifted them three goals, but at 3-0 down I still thought we could go on to win the game.
"We were opening them up and I knew those chances would continue to come.
“At half-time we said ‘stay relaxed, your chances will come’.
"There was belief in there, no panic. Harry scored a great goal and then a fantastic finish from Christian at the end.
"Even then, we wanted to win it. There were two minutes to go and we had opportunities to get in behind again.
"In the end, we had 20 shots at goal and we’re gutted to come away without the three points."
