Vlad's happy return

Vlad Chiriches is determined to step up to first team action as soon as possible after a successful return in our Under-21s’ North London derby win last week.

The central defender has been sidelined for 13 matches since suffering a back injury at the end of January, but ended that eight-week spell out with 90-minute stint as our U21s beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Lane.

“It’s been eight hard weeks for me but now I feel good,” said the Romania international.

“Now I’m fit, I’m feeling good and I’m hoping to start playing for the first team again. I want to finish the season well and I hope we can find our objectives and be good at the end.”

Vlad was impressed with the Under-21s' performance as they dominated against Gunners. “We played very well, we have lots of good, young players,” he said.

And he was even more impressed with the thousands of fans who turned up to cheer the team on. “The fans were great. I didn’t think a game Under-21s would be like that. It was amazing.”
