Villa U18s v Spurs - Kieran's preview
11 September 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Under-18s Coach Kieran McKenna expects “one of the toughest away games of the season” when our youngsters visit Aston Villa on Saturday (September 12).
We return to Barclays Under-18 Premier League action with a trip to the Villans’ Bodymoor Heath training ground looking for a positive performance after last weekend’s disappointing home defeat to Fulham.
Boosted by the return of a handful of players following international duty, Kieran says the boys are keen to build on a good week on the training pitches by taking the game to Villa this weekend.
“Aston Villa away is traditionally one of the toughest away games of the season,” he said.
“The matches there are usually played with a great intensity so it’s up to our boys to overcome that and to show their quality.
“We’ve had a full week in training and, with it being international week, some of the boys have had another opportunity to train with the senior players while some others have done something similar with the Under-21s.
“That’s what we want though – we want them getting exposure to different levels of football in training and now they’ll come together and look to put on a good performance at Villa.
“We’ve got a few players back from international duty as well, so they’ll be looking to hit the ground running. It’s a game we’re all looking forward to.”
Kick-off on Saturday is at 12noon. Follow us on Twitter @SpursOfficial for live updates.
