Villa U18s 1-1 Spurs - Kieran's verdict

Mon 06 October 2014, 10:34|Tottenham Hotspur

Kieran McKenna believes our Under-18s deserved more than a solitary point from Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa.

Shayon Harrison’s first half opener was cancelled out when Callum O’Hare bundled home seven minutes after the restart, his presence in the six yard box having caused goalkeeper Tom Glover to spill a corner.

Villa’s Harry McKirdy then saw his penalty kick cannon off the bar as the game ended 1-1.

Under-18s Coach Kieran was pleased with aspects of our performance in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League clash and picked out several individuals for praise.

“I thought we did more than enough to win the game to be honest,” he said. “In the first half we completely controlled the game but after they got the goal back from the corner, we were chasing the game and maybe left ourselves a little bit open to counter attacks so you might say they could have scored another one.

“I thought there were a lot of good individual performances, though. I was pleased for Charlie Owens, who had an injury in pre-season. He came on in the second half and imprinted his quality on the game and on the right-hand side in the first half I thought Kyle Walker-Peters and Anthony Georgiou linked up really well and were threatening.

“Cameron Carter-Vickers was again excellent for the large majority of the game, so individually there were some really pleasing aspects.”
