Villa 0-4 Spurs - JD's delight

Jermain Defoe hit the top five of the club's all-time top goalscorering list - and is determined to keep the goals flowing.
The striker’s double in Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup win at Villa took him to 139 goals, leapfrogging George Hunt, who scored 138 between 1930-37.
“If someone would have said to me when I first walked into Spurs that I’d be in the top five all-time goalscorers in the club’s history, I would have probably said ‘are you being serious?’” reflected Jermain.
“I look at all the great players in the top 10 and to be fifth, it’s a dream.
“I’m trying not to think about it too much as it’s a long season, but of course it’s at the back of my mind every time I go on the pitch because I want to score. It’s something special and I want to keep it going."
JD capitalised on two assists from Lewis Holtby, the first to open the scoring in first half injury time, the second in the 92nd minute to complete the 4-0 victory. In-between, Paulinho converted Lewis’ corner for 2-0 and Nacer Chadli raced onto Jermain’s pass to rifle home his first Spurs goals for the third.
“It was a great performance, good energy, we kept the ball well and that’s something we’ve done in the last few games,” added Jermain.
“We kept another clean sheet as well, that’s important. When the lads at the back and the goalkeeper are all doing their jobs, it’s up to the forwards to get the goals to win us the games.”
