Valley of joy for Jacko
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Johnnie Jackson had no difficulty describing his emotions after netting his first senior goal for Spurs against Charlton - 'The best feeling I've had in football'.
The second half nerves were jangling once again at the Valley after the boys stormed into a three-goal lead just after break following goals from Simon Davies, Jermain Defoe and Ledley King.
Graham Stuart got one back for the home side five minutes into the second half and, just when it appeared that the storm had been weathered, Chris Perry set Spurs hearts racing with a downward header into the net ten minutes from time.
It was then a case of step forward young Mr Jackson. And, from where he picked the ball up just inside the Charlton half, it was more than a few steps forward. The 21-year-old advanced towards the penalty area before unleashing an unstoppable left foot piledriver past the despairing dive of keeper Dean Kiely high into the right hand side of the goal.
"It's beautiful, the best feeling I've had in football," considered a bubbly Jacko afterwards. It was the last goal, basically the one that killed the game off because we were coming under a bit of pressure and they were pumping balls into our area.
"It was such a relief when it went in, then there was the personal satisfaction of me getting my first senior goal. Being at the end where all the Spurs fans were made it even better - it was just a brilliant night.
"We knew they would come at us in the second half, we got the early one and they were going to push us back after that. We were up against it, they got the two goals and we were thinking 'surely we're not going to let another three-goal lead go'.
"But then I managed to pop up and produce the goods."
